STEPS TO USE ETHIOPIA BEANS FOR POUR OVER
Step 1: Grind the Coffee
Use a scale to measure approximately 15g – 20g of pure coffee and grind it to a medium-coarse consistency. This step is crucial but often overlooked; the right grind size will allow for the optimal extraction time to achieve the best flavor.
Step 2: Prepare the Brewing Water
Boil water at a temperature between 92-96°C, which is ideal for extracting the best flavor from coffee. If using a traditional kettle, boil the water, then pour it into a pouring kettle and let it cool for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Step 3: Prepare the Filter and Paper
Use a coffee dripper and rinse the filter paper with hot water to remove impurities and maintain the water temperature for brewing. Then, pour the ground coffee from Step 1 into the center of the filter and gently shake to level the coffee.
Step 4: Brew
Pay attention to the brewing time, which should be between 2 minutes and 2 minutes 30 seconds for a delicious cup of Pour Over coffee. Depending on the coffee you are using, if the coffee has a light body, you may need to extend the pour time slightly to enhance the flavor and richness of the brew.
