Steps to Use Colombia Beans for Pour Over

Step 1: Grind the Coffee
You need to use a scale to take about 15g – 20g of whole coffee and grind it to a medium-fine consistency. This step is very important but often overlooked, as this grind size will provide enough extraction time to achieve the best flavor.

Step 2: Prepare the Brewing Water
Boil water to a temperature between 92-96°C, which is the optimal temperature for coffee extraction. With a traditional kettle, you can boil the water, then pour it into a serving kettle and let it cool for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Step 3: Prepare the Filter and Paper
Use a filter cone and pre-wet the filter paper with boiling water to remove impurities while ensuring the temperature of the water when brewing coffee. Then, pour the ground coffee from Step 1 into the center of the filter paper and gently shake to level the coffee.

Step 4: Brew
You should note that 2 to 2.5 minutes is the ideal time to brew a delicious cup of coffee using the Pour Over method. Depending on the coffee you use, if the coffee has a light body, you need to extend the pouring time a bit to enhance the body and create a richer flavor for the coffee.
