Choose the Right Grind Size
With Picopresso, there are no shortcuts. You truly need to understand the standards for a great espresso. Adjusting the grind size correctly, tamping the coffee just right, and controlling water temperature and extraction time are crucial. Once you master these elements, your reward will be a genuine espresso with top-notch quality. For a high-end machine like the Picopresso, finely ground coffee will yield a much better result than coarse grounds. Use the Recommended Coffee Ratio of 20g
Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for the amount of coffee used per extraction: 18-20g. With this amount, you can easily create a double-shot espresso that provides enough energy for a long day. That’s the right quality and quantity!
A small note here: coffee beans have different densities. For example, Robusta beans are harder than Arabica beans. Therefore, at the same grind size, Arabica will be coarser than Robusta. While adjusting the grind size for different beans, 3C recommends using 18g of coffee grounds for medium to medium-dark roasted Robusta, and 20g for imported Arabica beans like Ethiopian or Kenyan.
Apply Even Pressure and Do It Slowly
Apply pressure evenly, evenly, and evenly. It’s crucial to repeat this point three times. A frequency of one press per second is considered ideal. Even pressure helps maintain consistent pressure without dropping it after each press.
